Stephen Enang, a police inspector, reportedly passed away after collapsing while watching Arsenal defeat Real Madrid, a Spanish powerhouse, 3–0.
According to reports, the deceased police officer was assigned to the Akim Police Division on Calabar’s IBB Way.
Speaking to the media about the incident that resulted in the police officer’s death, one of his close friends stated:
“We were watching the match at a viewing center on Abang-Asang Street. He was cheerful, healthy, and supporting every goal. He was ecstatic when Arsenal scored the first, second, and third goals”.
“He jumped up in excitement multiple times. But after the final whistle, when everyone started leaving, we noticed Stephen wasn’t getting up like the rest of us. That’s when we realized something was wrong,” the witness said.
The witness who doubles as the friend of the police inspector disclosed that Stephen Enang slumped in his seat after the match between Real Madrid and Arsenal. He rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
“He was soft-spoken, football-loving, and an ardent Arsenal supporter. This came as a huge shock to all of us,” the friend added.
