Online users have discovered the final WhatsApp message sent by Rhoda, a UNILORIN student who was abducted while traveling to Port Harcourt for NYSC.
This was posted on X, a well-known social media site (formerly Twitter).
The post was shared by an influencer who had previously asked for donations to raise ₦2.5 million for the student’s release.
In an update on Rhoda’s situation, the influencer wrote: “This was Rhoda this morning. I can’t imagine the trauma she is going through. It’s been 15 hours already. I just need her out as soon as possible.”
The post also included a comment addressing critics of the fundraising: “Some people said raising the money is not the solution. Gun don touch you before?”
As the post gained attention, concerned individuals flooded the comment section, sharing their thoughts.
See some reactions below:
@felixherbt: “This NYSC need to scrap totally from Nigeria. is of no value to every educated Nigerian who have spent years in the university. The government should scrap it off. Why risking peoples lives yearly cus of NYSC !!!”
@Real_Dannyfan: “Hmm, I pray she gets free. Dear Prospective Corp Member, please do not travel overnight.”

@stybijuu8: “Leave the animals. Nigerians no care as e never touch them or their people, when show change leg u go see them dey beg for tl.”
@Philz_Hasty: God guide and protect us for this country, the insecurities for the country is way too much and it gets worse
@Staker1: so Nigeria don’t know that it’s time to abolish this nysc stuff everytime young people will be entering problems because of NYSC, there is no security in Nigeria stop NYSC
@TowFunFun: Nysc has many defects.
However, people still move in the country.
Until there’s a massive crackdown on these crimes, scrapping NYSC will just be like killing fishes so the bird can survive (it will not solve the problem).
