A young Nigerian woman shared her amusing yet painful story of being turned down by a man she wanted to date and admired.

In response to a popular conversation on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) regarding the pain of male rejection, @Shez_Weird_ shared screenshots of a direct message exchange from January of last year.

She boldly told the man she felt something for him during the chat and asked him if they were dating.

She wrote:

“Errrrrrrrrrmmmm Okay I don’t know how this is going to sound!!! But I have been crushing on you for a very long time. I like you. Are you single?”

However, the man’s response was not at all what she had hoped for.

She was body-shamed in addition to being rejected by him.

“Lol please, first of all you are not my spec. I like very thick girls with big bundaaaa. Secondly, I’m very single. I appreciate your effort, but don’t try this next time,” he replied.

Reflecting on the interaction over a year later, she captioned the snapshot with humor: “I no fit forget 😂😂😂😂😂.”

The post has since gone viral, sparking discussions about societal beauty standards, self-confidence, and the courage to express one’s feelings.
