You will be arrested if you pirate my new movie – Funke Akindele
Nollywood filmmaker Funke Akindele has cautioned online users and fans against downloading her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa.
This announcement follows the Exhibition Soiree on November 20, 2024, where the public was urged not to canvass at the movie theater and pirate Everybody Loves Jenifa.
Remember how her last film, A Tribe Called Judah, was pirated almost immediately after it came out?
The decision to strengthen security during the viewing of Everybody Loves Jenifa.
The seasoned director took to Instagram ahead of the movie’s December 13, 2024, theatrical release to thank her fans for their support and to warn against any kind of piracy.
“If you go to see my new movie and you bring out your phone or any device you have to film then that won’t be fine. I am aware that you are a huge fan of mine, that you respect and believe in me, and that you want to promote Everybody Loves Jenifa, but you are not helping me with the filming. No! You uploading it on your social media accounts is not support. Don’t bring out your phones. If you want to support me, get to the cinemas, take pictures by the stands, post my trailers, the teasers of the movie and I’ll be fine. Cos the act of you filming it on the screen is piracy. YES,” she said.
