EPL: Newcastle United 1-1 Manchester City

At St. James’ Park, Newcastle United held champion Manchester City to a 1-1 draw thanks to a late goal from Anthony Gordon from the penalty spot.
Josko Gvardiol opened the score on 35 minutes with an incredible turn and finish, giving Pep Guardiola’s team hope even though they were missing long-term absentee Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.
Newcastle, who were without striker Alexander Isak, found it difficult to create clear-cut chances in the first half. However, the game took off when Gordon won and scored a penalty kick just before the hour mark.
Manchester City’s lead at the top of the table is now two points thanks to the draw, but if results throughout the remainder of the weekend go against them, they could lose that position.
Newcastle are three points further back in fifth.
Newcastle hosts AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup on Tuesday night, while Man City travels to Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League.
