Doctor’s car kills one in Ogun hospital crash

On Tuesday, a doctor from Ogun State is said to have killed one person when his car crashed into the Mowe Health Centre in the Mowe region of the state.

The incident happened on Thursday when the doctor was driving into the hospital’s grounds, according to a police source who was aware of it.

One person was killed and two were injured when the doctor lost control of the car and crashed into the hospital’s vehicle, according to the source.

The source said, “An accident occurred at the Mowe hospital. Although a doctor has always parked at the Mowe Health Centre, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the hospital’s fence on this specific day. One person died while two others were injured.”

Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer for Ogun State Police, confirmed the incident to our correspondent over the phone on Thursday. She revealed that the deceased person’s body was placed at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.

She added that an investigation was ongoing on the matter.

“The incident involved a Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number APP 422 GJ, driven by a doctor.

“The driver, who was not a staff member but had been parking on the health center property, was trying to enter the facility when he lost control of his car, struck the hospital wall, and injured two people.” Unfortunately, a three-year-old named Ejikey Israel died at the scene.

“Police officers visited the accident site, the vehicle was taken to the station for safety, the deceased’s body was sent to the OOUTH for autopsy, and the injured individuals were taken for treatment. An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” Odutola concluded.

PUNCH Metro reported on August 18 that a driver of an unregistered Honda Accord vehicle killed one person after ramming into a motorcycle along the Oru-Ijebu Igbo road in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The accident, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, occurred at about 8 pm.

Three people were involved in the collision, which resulted in two injuries and one fatality, according to Akinbiyi.

The TRACE spokesperson stated that the accident was caused by the reckless driving by the driver of the Honda Accord car.
