Tems and Wizkid, two Nigerian superstars, were among the first winners of the 2023 National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Awards.
Tems won the Outstanding International Song award for “No Woman, No Cry,” one of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever theme songs.
Wizkid, on the other hand, won the Outstanding Collaboration (Contemporary) award for his appearance on Chris Brown’s “Call Me Everyday.”
The winners of the 54th NAACP annual ceremony, held virtually to celebrate black excellence in art and entertainment, were announced on Monday night.
In 2022, the Afrobeat stars also clinched the NAACP Image Awards for their collaboration on “Essence,” a track from the Made in Lagos album.
