Squid Game’s future has been confirmed by Netflix, which has revealed that the second season will debut on Boxing Day, December 26.
The future of Netflix’s hit show Squid Game has been confirmed with a first look at the upcoming series.
The show, which debuted as a surprise hit in 2021, enthralled viewers everywhere and rose to prominence as the platform’s biggest series.
A short trailer showcasing an Olympic-style theme in which Squid Game competitors race to survive was also released in conjunction with this announcement.
The trailer shows the mysterious character Front Man, Lee Byung-hun, overseeing the chaos, flanked by his pink-suited henchmen.
He asks, “It’s been three years. Do you want to play again?”
While a third series has been commissioned, it will be the last. The success of the show also led to the creation of the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge.
In a recent interview with RadioTimes, Lee Jung-jae, who portrayed Seong Gi-hun in the first season, hinted at what to expect from the second one: “I think the script for season 2 is even more interesting than season 1, and there will be a new set of characters as well.” One thing I felt when reading the script is that there’s an even deeper emotion uncovered in season two, and I also think the audience is going to feel like, ‘Where is this story going?’ Because there are so many twists and turns that happen.”
While the first season of Squid Game is currently streaming on Netflix, the second season will debut on Boxing Day.
