The organizers of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) have announced a reduction in the prize money for the highly anticipated Season 9 of the reality show.
The organizers of the reality show took to their official X page to announce that the winner of Season 9 will now receive a grand prize of N100 million, along with a brand-new SUV, down from the previous amount of N120 million.
This announcement coincides with the eagerly awaited July 28 launch of Africa’s most watched reality series.
Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, disclosed during a press conference on July 17 that this year’s edition, which runs for a total of 71 days until October 6, is expected to be full of drama and unusual entertainment.
Housemates will compete in pairs, which is a change to the game format and adds new dynamics to the challenges.
Her statement read:
“Ninth season of the Big Brother Naija show will be going beyond drama; we will be bringing in different blends of unique entertainment.
“The show will run from July 28 to Oct. 6.
“The challenging aspect of the show will be that the housemates will be going into the house in pairs and doing some of the house challenges in pairs.
“Everyone curious about the theme should watch out for the premiere on Sunday, July 28. The show holds lots of fun, vibes, emotion, drama, dynamics, and intriguing twists.”
She added that the Big Brother Naija Buzz, to be anchored by Toke Makinwa, would be available for lovers of the show to catch up with the behind-the-scenes.
“There will be something that would be unravelled from the night of the premiere.
“There will be a lot of twists from Big Brother; the head of the house challenge will not be held as usual.
“The pool party and the Saturday night party will be held, and the show will air 24 hours,” she added.
