The Nigeria Police Force has arrested popular social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, just days after his release from prison.
According to reports, VeryDarkMan was taken into custody per the directive of Igwe, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command’s Police Commissioner.
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju claimed that VeryDarkMan was detained on Sunday after he allegedly exposed a Nigerian who was allegedly involved in an international fraud scheme in a post via X.
Adeyanju claims that the controversial social media influencer was taken into custody due to accusations of defamation.
“CP Igwe instructed the police to arrest our client, @thatverydarkman, for uncovering the identity of a person who had allegedly deceived a Nigerian national abroad.
“Instead of the police to arrest the person alleged to have duped someone, they arrested VDM on allegation of defamation,” he stated.
Recall that a few weeks prior, the critic was imprisoned for several weeks due to accusations of cyberbullying.
