JAMB, VCs to decide cut-off marks for varsities and others on July 18

On July 18, 2024, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will meet with vice-chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics, and provosts of Colleges of Education, among other education stakeholders, to determine the cut-off or minimum benchmarks for admission.

This year’s meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Education, Prof.Tahir Mamman, according to a notice obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Monday.

“During the exercise, the registrar will present reports on the recently completed Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and ongoing Direct Entry applications, as well as an analysis of key performance indicators that may shape the government’s admission policy directions.

“Also, the meeting would update stakeholders on the key issues raised during the previous year’s admissions process.

“In addition, the policy meeting would look at the performance of candidates in the current year’s UTME to determine the year’s minimum admissible score,” the notice stated.

Remember that stakeholders had previously agreed on a minimum admission requirement for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

This year’s meeting will determine admission requirements and kick off the admission process for the current year.
