PAN warns farmers who use antibiotics to raise chickens and other birds

The Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has warned farmers against using antibiotics in the production of chickens and other birds.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, PAN Lagos State Chairman issued the warning.

According to Mojeed Iyiola, the use rendered local egg powder unacceptable outside of the country.

The chairman stated that doing the right thing would increase both productivity and profitability.

“We warn farmers to desist from the use of antibiotics in grooming their birds to enable our egg powder gain entrance into the international markets”, he told NAN.

Instead of antibiotics, poultry owners can use probiotics, according to Iyiola.

The PAN leader, on the other hand, praised the Lagos government for establishing an egg powder production factory in the state.
