Niger Governor Sani Bello directs security officers to seek out the murderers of a Catholic priest

Alhaji Sani Bello Abubakar, the governor of Niger State, has ordered security agencies to find the people responsible for the murder of Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi, a priest of SS Peter and Paul, who was shot dead at his home in Kaffin Koro, Paikoro Local Government Area.

Bello referred to the shooting of the Parish Priest as unholy and barbaric in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mrs. Mary Noel-Berje.

The worst aspect of terrorist assaults, according to him, is striking a place of worship in order to murder someone.

The governor explained, “this is a sad moment, for a priest to be killed in such a manner means that we are not all safe, these terrorists have lost it, and drastic action is needed to end this ongoing carnage”.

Adding that his administration would not let up in its efforts to see that those responsible for the horrific and inhumane actions were brought to justice, he urged the security agencies to keep developing innovative tactics to put an end to them.

The governor prayed for the rapid recovery of another wounded Rev. Father, who was also fired at by the bandits while attempting to flee, while also expressing sympathy to the Christian community, particularly the Catholic Church, over the heinous crime.

He then urged the populace to be calm, saying that the government would keep working hard to protect peoples’ lives and way of life.
