Veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani (TK) has received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Lead City University in Ibadan.
People who have made a significant contribution to society are frequently given the degree.
On Tuesday, the director posted a picture of himself online wearing a cap and gown. In the post, Kelani expressed his gratitude to the organization and to everyone who had supported him on his journey.
“It is now on record that on the 12th day of the 12th month of the year 2022, I was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) by Lead City University, Ibadan, one of the leading universities in Nigeria,” he wrote.
The veteran concluded his statement by writing: “I hereby thank my family and friends. associates, supporters, collaborators, benefactors and professional colleagues for being part of my journey. Your love, support and encouragement over the past few decades have finally paid off. I am grateful. God bless you all. Dr. TK.”

The majority of his films, including “Maami,” “Saworoide,” and “Oleku,” follow these themes. He is renowned for his appreciation of literary adaptations.
Most recently, he was the director of “Ayinla,” the Jade Osiberu-produced biopic of the well-known Apala musician Ayinla Omo Wura.
