Nollywood actor recounts how a doctor’s incorrect medication left him paralyzed many years ago

Bimbo Manuel, a Nollywood actor, has revealed how he became paralyzed as a result of a doctor’s incorrect medication. In the most recent episode of Chude Jideowo’s podcast, the actor reflected on his life, career, and other personal issues.

Manuel stated that the incident occurred years after he was in a car accident. The actor revealed that he went to a general hospital on Lagos Island after experiencing pain days after the accident.

He claimed that after multiple x-rays, a doctor at the hospital’s Orthopaedic section put him on treatment for rheumatism and arthritis. This, he claimed, aggravated his condition because he was unable to walk for a period of time.

He stated: “I’ve been told three times to go and get a wheelchair and that was by experts, people who should know. They told me, Mr Manuel, do you know anyone abroad? Maybe they can get you the electric type so you’ll be able to use it myself but said no.”

“It was an auto accident inside the town, and it travelled through my entire spine. I didn’t know, I walked away from it. I didn’t feel any pain. A little down the line, however, I now started to feel pain.”

“I was in my late twenties, early thirties and a doctor put me on treatment for rheumatism and arthritis until I couldn’t walk anymore. I lost all sensation on my right side, and I was frustrated. I just couldn’t go anywhere, the slightest movement would make me scream.”

He then stated that he was later taken to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital where in a few months, he started walking.
