If ₦100 Billion Were Invested in ₦50,000 Grants, Two Million Youths Could Benefit — A Satirical Take

A satirical post making the rounds online argues that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who once boasted of being richer than Osun State, could personally do more to tackle unemployment by funding small business grants.

The writer claims that with Osun State budgeting ₦723.4 billion this year, Tinubu’s wealth could be estimated at about ₦1 trillion annually. However, this figure is speculative and not backed by any verified evidence.

Referencing a recent empowerment initiative by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, in which some graduates received ₦50,000 grants to start small businesses, the author humorously suggests that if Tinubu devoted just 10% of the assumed ₦1 trillion—₦100 billion—to similar grants each year, about two million youths could receive funding annually.

Using simple arithmetic, the post notes that ₦100 billion divided by ₦50,000 equals two million beneficiaries, joking that such an effort could create millions of “akara frying entrepreneurs” over the next decade and significantly reduce unemployment.

The post concludes by sarcastically urging the First Lady to “dig deeper into that deep pocket” so poverty can be defeated through akara businesses.

While the calculations are mathematically correct, the underlying assumption about Tinubu’s personal wealth is unverified, making the post a political satire rather than a factual analysis.
