A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after revealing why he cut ties with a close friend following the loss of a $10,000 investment in a crypto scheme nearly three years ago.
In a post shared on his X handle, @only1kai, the man recounted how he invested $10,000 in a cryptocurrency platform that later disappeared, taking his money with it.
According to him, the platform crashed just weeks after he invested, prompting him to report the incident to security operatives.
“The website disappeared along with my money. I reported it to the police, thinking that was the end,” he wrote.
However, investigations reportedly traced the stolen funds to a cryptocurrency exchange, where authorities discovered that his friend was linked to the transaction.
Although he eventually recovered $6,000 of the lost funds, the discovery permanently damaged their relationship. Despite his friend’s pleas for forgiveness, he chose to end the friendship.
