NDC Accuses INEC of Withholding Access Code Amid Court Battle

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of refusing to provide the Access Code required to upload and download its candidates on the commission’s portal.

Speaking in an interview, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said the NDC had formally approached INEC but had yet to receive any response.

According to him, the party plans to file for a stay of execution of the Federal High Court judgment delivered in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The development follows a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja directing INEC not to recognise the NDC as a political party pending the resolution of legal disputes surrounding its registration.

The court also set aside its earlier December 2025 judgment that ordered INEC to register the NDC after the Peace Movement Party (PMP) challenged the party’s registration, claiming ownership of the logo used by the NDC.

Despite the ruling, the NDC has maintained that it remains a legally recognised political party. National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe said the party rejects the judgment and has begun the process of appealing the decision at the Court of Appeal while seeking a stay of execution.

The legal battle is expected to continue as both the recognition of the party and its participation in the electoral process remain subjects of ongoing litigation.
