A woman has shared a lighthearted account of how her husband unexpectedly returned home after earlier informing her that he would be spending the night away with friends ahead of a wedding.
According to her, her husband had planned to sleep over with a group of friends, so she had dinner with their children and everyone went to bed, believing he would not be coming home that night.
However, at about 10:30pm, her phone rang and her husband informed her that he was standing at the gate.
After she opened the gate for him, the first thing he said immediately revealed why he had returned home.
“My phone rang by 10:30pm and my husband said he was at the gate. I went to open the gate and the minute he entered, first thing he said was, ‘Your husband is hungry.’”
She explained that her husband later told her there were plenty of drinks at the gathering but little or no food, prompting him to leave and return home.
The woman jokingly reminded him that he had said he would not be home that night and suggested he would have to go hungry.
But to his surprise, she had already kept food for him on the dining table.
She said her husband was shocked that she still prepared a meal for him despite his earlier plan to stay away.
The story has generated reactions online, with many people describing it as a relatable example of marriage, familiarity and the small thoughtful moments that keep a home warm.
