A Nigerian woman has gone viral online after recounting the unexpected way she met her husband at a wedding ceremony.
In a post shared on X, @Emily46645 revealed that their love story began in 2019 when she accidentally splashed a drink on a man who would later become her husband.
According to her, the man was a friend of the groom, while she attended the event as the caterer’s cousin.
After the incident, she repeatedly apologized for spilling the drink on him. Rather than getting upset, he laughed and asked for her phone number.
She eventually gave him her contact, but when he later sent a message requesting either a refund or a date, she ignored him for more than three days.
The pair eventually went on a date, where they reportedly spent time debating the merits of Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Burna Boy.
Although she offered to split the bill, he insisted on paying. Their relationship continued to grow, and three years later, he proposed while wearing white shoes — a moment she said left her emotional enough to cry on his outfit.
Reflecting on their journey together, she wrote:
“People ask what love feels like. It’s not the big moments. It’s someone remembering your chaos and calling it destiny. It’s zobo on white shoes turning into a home. He didn’t fall for perfect me. He fell for spilling, stubborn, scared me.”
The touching story has since attracted widespread reactions from social media users, many describing it as a reminder that love can emerge from the most unexpected moments.
