A Nigerian lady has gone viral on social media after sharing an emotional story about a surprise gift her late uncle left behind before his passing.
The lady, identified on X as @balotommy, revealed that her uncle did not leave behind luxury assets such as a car or house. However, what he left for her turned out to be far more meaningful.
According to her, shortly after her uncle’s burial, her aunt handed her an old envelope that had been addressed to her. Believing it contained only a farewell message, she nearly discarded it because of the emotional weight attached to it.
While cleaning her room later, she decided to open the envelope and discovered a handwritten note alongside documents relating to a bank account.
To her surprise, she found that her uncle had secretly opened a savings account in her name and consistently deposited money into it over time.
Although the amount was not life-changing, she explained that it was enough to pay for a professional course that could significantly improve her career prospects.
Recalling the emotional moment, she wrote:
“The note ended with one sentence: ‘You may never know how much I believed in you.’ I cried harder than I did at his funeral.”
The touching story quickly resonated with many social media users, who praised the late uncle’s thoughtfulness and sacrifice.
