A Nigerian man has stirred reactions online after recounting a disturbing childhood experience that nearly turned tragic.
The man, identified on X as @tweetsbydharmiiz, revealed that the incident happened during his teenage years and involved someone very close to his family.
According to him, his mother’s best friend visited their shop one day and offered him a full plate of rice. However, he forgot to eat the food and left it untouched overnight.
To his shock, he claimed that by the following morning, the rice had completely turned black.
“My mom’s best friend who later started a business that my mom was doing. One day she came to our shop and she gave me a full plate of rice, i forgot to eat it and the next day when we got to the shop, the whole food has turned to black, she had poisoned it,” he wrote.
The viral tweet has since generated massive reactions online, with many users divided over whether the food was truly poisoned or had simply gone bad.
Reigns remarked, “No, that black stuff you saw was definitely mould. Not really poison. It doesn’t mean she poisoned the food, you didn’t keep it well.”
Azim Oscar added, “How sure were you that she poisoned the food because food spoils quickly if not preserved?”
Baba Yoyo warned, “Be careful oh! Someone who started your mum’s business is more or less an enemy oh. Going forward, don’t eat any food you don’t know how it was prepared.”
Solomon wrote, “Jeez, that’s so cruel. Thank God you forgot to eat the food, what might have happened?”
The story has continued to spark debate across social media, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences and others urging caution before jumping to conclusions.
