Lady Explains Why She Rejected Ex-Boyfriend’s Proposal Over His Music Career

A Nigerian lady has gone viral online after opening up about why she turned down her ex-boyfriend’s marriage proposal.

The lady, identified on X as @Esther-aroboto, revealed that she ended the relationship because her ex-boyfriend had no stable source of income and appeared unwilling to become financially responsible.

According to her, she once gave him money to start a business, hoping it would help him build something meaningful for himself. However, instead of investing the money into a business, he allegedly spent it on studio sessions while pursuing his music career.

She explained that the turning point came during his marriage proposal when she asked practical questions about their future together.

In her words:

“I asked him, ‘How do we survive? How do we raise children and build a future?’ This man looked me in the eye and said, ‘You’re studying a good course, you’ll get a good job after school while I continue chasing my music career.’ At that moment I realized I wasn’t dating an upcoming artist.”

The lady further disclosed that after their breakup, her ex-boyfriend later reached out to her seeking financial help for his baby’s feeding and hospital bills.

She said she recently advised him to get a job and stop depending on her for support. However, the situation took another twist when an old friend contacted her, claiming she was being too harsh on him and should apologize.

According to her, she appreciated the friend’s opinion before immediately blocking her.

The story sparked mixed reactions across social media, with many users debating relationships, financial responsibility, and support for creative careers.

Some reactions included:

“Love is important, but financial stability matters too.”

“She did what was best for her future.”

“You can chase music and still work a regular job.”
