A Nigerian woman has stirred widespread debate online after publicly confessing that she harbors deep resentment toward her younger sister, who eventually married a wealthy man that once proposed to her.
According to the woman, the man had asked for her hand in marriage twice years earlier, but she rejected him because she was uncertain about his financial situation and felt he was too impatient.
However, fate took an unexpected turn when the same man later met her younger sister, unaware they were related, and proposed to her instead. Her sister accepted, and their relationship quickly led to marriage.
The woman explained that the shocking family connection was only discovered when the man visited their home for the bride price introduction.
Now, she says the man has become highly successful, working as an accountant while also managing thriving businesses, making him financially comfortable.
Her pain, however, goes beyond regret.
She lamented that despite his wealth, she cannot directly access financial support from him, as he always insists she request assistance through her younger sister.
According to her, while her sister occasionally gives her between ₦45,000 and ₦55,000, she allegedly receives nearly ₦700,000 regularly from her husband and provides substantial monthly support to both their parents and her mother-in-law.
The woman expressed frustration that her repeated pleas for help in expanding her struggling salon business, which she estimates would require about ₦900,000 to ₦1 million, have been ignored.
She accused her younger sister of intentionally trying to outshine and belittle her, especially by taking on the financial responsibilities she believes should naturally belong to her as the first child.
The emotional weight of watching her younger sister become the family’s major provider has reportedly left her feeling ashamed, replaced, and deeply bitter.
In her words, she feels her younger sister’s actions make her appear irresponsible and incapable before their family.
Part of her emotional post read:
“Pls, I need serious advice. I know it’s my mistake, but hear me out. A man came & proposed to me twice, & I rejected his proposal cuz I didn’t have full information about his financial status.
“The issue here is that the man is an accountant. He also runs businesses in the city. He is a rich man. When I ask for money from him, he tells me to pass through my sister.”
She further admitted:
“I honestly feel so embarrassed & hurt as a first child. I’m truly hurt watching my sister trying to take my place as the first born. I feel ashamed, It’s embarrassing & I can’t help but nurse hatred for her.”
Her confession has since triggered intense reactions online, with many social media users divided between sympathizing with her regret and criticizing her sense of entitlement.
