“I Feel Like Walking Away From My Marriage” — Woman Cries Out Over Alleged Insults, Financial Neglect and Missing Savings

A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to express deep frustration over her marriage, alleging repeated public insults from her husband and financial neglect that has left her struggling to cater for their children.

She said the situation worsened during the Easter period in 2026 amid Nigeria’s rising cost-of-living pressures, leaving her emotionally drained and uncertain about the future of her marriage.

According to her, the breaking point came after a recent incident where her husband allegedly insulted her publicly.

“I’m honestly not thinking straight right now… I feel like walking away from my marriage. Last week, my husband insulted me publicly, called me senseless. This isn’t the first time, and I kept quiet out of respect.”

She explained that despite enduring previous verbal attacks in silence, the situation reportedly continued, affecting her emotional wellbeing and home stability.

She further revealed that she has been solely responsible for feeding her children after her husband allegedly stopped providing upkeep.

Because I was low on cash, I decided to take from my piggy savings, planning to replace it later. To my greatest shock… it was EMPTY. My husband had taken all the money without telling me.”

The woman added that the savings account was initially encouraged by her husband, who advised her against joining traditional rotating savings groups (ajo/esusu), warning her about fraud risks. She said the discovery left her feeling betrayed and confused.

She also linked her experience to a growing concern about economic pressure and financial control in households.
