A woman has recounted a frightening yet unusual encounter after a snake reportedly made contact with her leg while she waited at the gate of a residential estate late at night.
According to her narration, the incident happened shortly after she stepped out to deliver a cake. She had stopped by a roadside vendor to buy pap (eko) and suya when the unexpected occurred.
She explained that she was standing casually in slippers when she suddenly felt something cold brush against her leg. Curious, she looked down—only to discover it was a snake.
Despite the terrifying situation, she said she remained surprisingly calm.
“I had just finished delivering a cake and stopped at the gate to buy pap and suya. While waiting, I suddenly felt something cold on my leg. When I looked down, it was a snake. The craziest part is that it paused on my leg for a few seconds,” she said.
Rather than panic, she chose to stay completely still, hoping not to provoke the reptile.
“I didn’t scream or move. I just stayed still, hoping it would pass. After a while, it slowly moved away. Even I don’t know where that courage came from, because I was calm in a situation that should have terrified me,” she added.
The incident has since gone viral, especially as it comes amid recurring reports of snake sightings in residential areas—particularly during the rainy season when reptiles tend to leave their hiding spots in search of food and warmth.
Similar cases have been reported in parts of Lagos in recent years, raising fresh concerns about environmental sanitation and pest control within estates.
Adding a touch of humour, the woman joked that the experience made her consider adopting a snake as a pet—a suggestion many social media users quickly warned her against.
