A Nigerian man has stirred widespread reactions online after alleging that he was sexually assaulted by an unknown woman during a trip in a commercial bus.
The man, who shared his experience on social media, described the encounter as deeply unsettling, noting that it left him shaken and emotionally disturbed even after he exited the vehicle.
According to his account, the incident occurred in a crowded commercial bus where passengers were seated in close proximity due to limited space. He explained that he was seated beside a young woman, and like in many such situations, occasional body contact initially seemed unavoidable.
However, he claimed the contact soon appeared intentional. The woman allegedly leaned forward repeatedly, causing her chest to press against his arm despite his visible attempts to create distance.
“At some point, I felt her boobs rubbing off the back of my arm… I didn’t really read any meaning to it because these things can mistakenly happen in tight spaces,” he wrote.
The man further stated that the situation grew increasingly uncomfortable, as the woman allegedly adjusted her position each time he tried to shift away, maintaining the contact. He also noted changes in her breathing and body language, which heightened his unease.
Despite feeling uncomfortable, he said he chose not to speak up in order to avoid causing a scene inside the bus.
Eventually, unable to tolerate the situation any longer, he got off at a stop that was not his intended destination.
He described feeling violated and visibly shaken afterward.
“I just can’t stop shaking. I feel violated and when I close my eyes, the whole scenario just plays at the back of my head,” he added.
The story has since triggered a wave of reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing mixed opinions on the incident and the broader issue of male victims of harassment.
A social media user, Chinedu Okafor, wrote, “People will joke about this, but if the roles were reversed, it would be a serious issue. Consent should go both ways.”
Another user, Aisha Bello, commented, “This is why many men don’t speak up. They’re afraid of being mocked or not taken seriously.”
Ibrahim Lawal added, “In crowded buses, things like this can happen unintentionally, but if he felt uncomfortable enough to get down, then it shouldn’t be dismissed.”
Meanwhile, Blessing Eze said, “This is actually disturbing. Nobody deserves to feel violated, man or woman. We need to start taking these conversations seriously.”
However, not everyone agreed with the claim. Tunde Ajayi wrote, “This sounds exaggerated. Public buses are tight, and contact is sometimes unavoidable.”
Another commenter, Fatima Sadiq, noted, “It’s a sensitive topic, but we should be careful before jumping to conclusions without hearing both sides.”
The incident has continued to fuel discussions around personal boundaries, consent, and the stigma that often surrounds male victims of inappropriate conduct in public spaces.
