A young lady has stirred reactions online after recounting a painful experience following a surprise visit to her boyfriend.
The lady, known as @justmercy on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that she lied to her mother about attending a night vigil just so she could travel to see her partner.
Sharing her story in a now-viral tweet, she explained that the visit did not go as expected. Instead of being happy to see her, her boyfriend reportedly reacted with irritation.
According to her, she had gone the extra mile—buying food items for him with the last of her money—only to be met with a cold reception.
“When I arrived, he wasn’t excited. He was irritated. He said I should’ve called first. I laughed it off. I even bought food with the last of my money on my way, and spent the night on a cold chair because his bed was too small for both of us.”
She also disclosed that prior to the visit, her boyfriend had ignored her messages for two days. Despite this, she still went ahead with the trip after collecting transport fare from her mother.
In the end, she described the experience as one of her biggest regrets in love, admitting that she ignored her self-worth in the process.
“That was the worst thing I’ve ever done for love, forgetting my own worth. Men are scum. Never again.”
Her story has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many users debating boundaries, communication, and self-respect in relationships.
