A 42-year-old married woman, Mrs. Tilewa Olatunde Funke, who was earlier declared missing, has been found in a hotel room in Ondo State alongside a 55-year-old man identified as Isa Alaba.
According to reports, Mrs. Funke left Ilara-Mokin for Akure at about 10 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026. However, concerns arose after she became unreachable, with her phone switched off.
Her sudden disappearance sparked panic among family members and residents, prompting a search effort that involved security operatives.
She was later located in a hotel in Ugbe-Akoko, approximately 124 kilometres from Ilara-Mokin.
A source disclosed that the situation was not a case of abduction as initially feared.
“She was not abducted. She left on her own without informing anyone and was later found with the man in the hotel.”
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abayomi, urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary panic.
He stated that the incident caused avoidable alarm and diverted attention and resources away from genuine emergencies. He also stressed the importance of open communication within families, noting that many such situations could be prevented through dialogue rather than escalating into widespread concern.
