A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after recounting an unexpected and awkward dating experience that left many social media users divided.
According to her, the incident happened after a man who showed interest in her invited her out on a date. Expecting a normal outing, she agreed—unaware of what would unfold at the end of the meal.
Narrating her experience, she said:
“You asked me on a date, and I said okay, let’s give it a trial. I went on the date with you, ordered stir-fried pasta and chicken with juice. After eating, they brought the bill, and it was ₦52,000. You now told me to send my part.”
She explained that she was taken aback by the request, especially since the man initiated the date and encouraged her to order whatever she wanted.
Despite feeling embarrassed, she chose to remain calm and avoid creating a scene at the restaurant. Instead, she paid the full ₦52,000 bill herself before leaving.
“I just paid the full ₦52,000 and left. I blocked him instantly. If I didn’t have money, what would have happened? My girlies, always go with money so you don’t get embarrassed,” she added.
Her story quickly gained traction online, sparking mixed reactions. While many criticized the man for his actions, others argued that splitting bills isn’t necessarily wrong—especially if both parties agree beforehand.
The incident has since reignited conversations around dating expectations, financial responsibility, and communication before outings.
