A Nigerian youth whose emotional childhood photo went viral in 2023 has finally revealed the story behind the memorable image that sparked countless memes online.
In the widely shared photo, the young boy—dressed in a traditional outfit—is seen crying while posing for the camera. Despite his tears, the photographer appears unfazed, calmly capturing the moment that would later spread across social media.
The man, now identified on TikTok as @niff-wizzy, recently addressed the viral photo, explaining that the tears were real and had a simple reason behind them.
According to him, he was not interested in taking the picture at the time, and the situation became worse when someone took away his toy.
“I was crying because I didn’t want to snap plus someone collected my toy. I attended UI,” he wrote, revealing that he is now a graduate of the University of Ibadan (UI).
His revelation quickly went viral again, with many TikTok users amused to finally hear the explanation behind the iconic crying photo.
