
A man identified as Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi has been kidnapped by gunmen in Kajola settlement, Ilu-Abo community, Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State.
Background of the Victim
Aladesuyi serves as the Secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and is the Chief Executive Officer of JOTINA Farms. He was reportedly working on his farm, located about five kilometres from Akure Airport in Oba-Ile, when the attackers struck.
Details of the Incident
Witnesses reported that the gunmen stormed the farm, fired sporadically, and forced Aladesuyi and another person into a nearby forest.
His granddaughter, who was present, was left behind.
The attackers are demanding a ransom of ₦100 million for Aladesuyi’s release.
Public Appeal
Family members are appealing to the public for financial assistance to secure his release.
Context
Prior to the kidnapping, Aladesuyi had publicly praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to tackle corruption and insecurity in Nigeria. In a post, he commended Tinubu for reforms in the public treasury, subsidy removal, NNPC corruption control, infrastructure development, and collaboration with other nations to improve security.
This case highlights ongoing insecurity challenges in Ondo State, and authorities may need urgent intervention to rescue the victims safely.
