A Nigerian woman has reportedly been sent out of her matrimonial home after allegedly using her children’s school fees to gamble.
The incident was shared by a user identified as @Tope-Orus on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), sparking widespread reactions online.
According to the post, the woman’s husband had given her ₦80,000 to pay their children’s school fees. Instead of paying the fees, she allegedly used the money to place bets, hoping to multiply it.
Unfortunately, she lost the entire amount.
The situation reportedly worsened when the children were sent home from school due to non-payment of fees. Rather than immediately informing her husband about what had happened, she kept quiet out of fear and confusion.
The tweet explained:
“She had lost, she became confused and didn’t know what to do. Instead of telling her husband the truth, she kept it to herself until the children were sent home from school.”
When the husband eventually discovered the truth, he reportedly did not resort to violence. Instead, he asked her to pack her belongings and leave the house.
According to the account, she tried to defend herself by saying she had previously won money through betting and that this particular loss was a mistake. However, her explanation did not change her husband’s decision. He allegedly warned her not to be present in the house upon his return.
As it stands, the children are said to be at home and not attending school.
The incident has reignited conversations online about gambling addiction, financial responsibility within families, and the devastating impact betting can have on households.
