A single mother’s heartbreaking allegation against a primary school teacher has sparked outrage and heated conversations online after she took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her painful experience.
The woman, a mother of three, revealed that she survives solely on her small tomato business, working long hours every day under the hot sun to make ends meet. With no support from her children’s father, she says every meal she provides is earned through sweat and sacrifice.
“I am absolutely heartbroken and beyond angry right now,” she wrote. “Imagine working yourself to the bone as a single mom of three, just for a shameless teacher to sit back and eat your child’s lunch every single day.”
Despite her struggles, she said she does everything possible to ensure her children are well fed, healthy, and properly cared for. According to her, her youngest child attends a school where fees have been fully paid, stressing that she owes the school nothing.
Every morning, she carefully packs enough food for her daughter to last through the school day. However, after about two months, she began to notice something troubling.
Her child was losing weight.
Alarmed, the mother said she started paying closer attention, asking questions and quietly observing what was happening at school. What she allegedly uncovered left her devastated.
According to her, her daughter’s teacher had been eating the food meant for the child.
“I found out the truth — her teacher has been finishing her food,” she claimed, adding that she strongly believes other pupils may also be victims of the same act.
She further alleged that the teacher collects pupils’ bags under the pretense of keeping them safe, only to secretly go through them and eat their meals when the children are not watching.
The situation reportedly took a worse turn when she approached the school to lodge a formal complaint. Instead of receiving support, she said the school administration was dismissive and rude.
“I cannot be sweating in the sun to feed my child while this woman is getting fat and fresh off my daughter’s lunch while my baby loses weight,” she lamented.
In a strongly worded message, the mother addressed the teacher directly, identified as Madam Lucia, urging her to eat properly at home and stop taking food from pupils. She also warned the school management to take the matter seriously, demanding immediate action and insisting that the teacher should no longer remain in the school.
As the story continues to circulate online, many Nigerians have expressed anger, sympathy, and concern, calling for accountability and better protection for children in schools.
