Pastor Paul Enenche’s Marriage Message Sparks a Bigger Conversation on Responsibility

A recent message by Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has set social media buzzing and reopened an age-long discussion about money, leadership, and responsibility in marriage.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @ChuksEricE, Pastor Enenche addressed men directly, warning against the mindset that a wife should automatically shoulder household responsibilities simply because she earns more.

Using a practical example, he said that if a wife earns ₦1 million while the husband earns ₦100,000, the man should not step back and expect the woman to carry the financial burden of the home alone. According to him, leadership in marriage is not a salary contest.

Instead, the pastor emphasized intention and sacrifice. He explained that when a man willingly contributes—even if it is a smaller amount—it sends a powerful message of love, effort, and commitment.

In his words, splitting one’s ₦100,000 and giving it to one’s wife can be more meaningful than the woman spending her own ₦1 million. The value, he noted, lies not in the amount but in the heart behind the giving.

Pastor Enenche stressed that provision in marriage goes beyond figures and bank balances. To him, responsibility is about showing up, being deliberate, and taking ownership of the home, regardless of financial capacity at a given time.

As expected, the message sparked mixed reactions online. Many applauded the pastor for encouraging men to embrace responsibility and resist complacency. Supporters argued that his message promotes accountability and reinforces the idea that leadership in the home involves sacrifice.

However, critics countered that modern marriages should function as partnerships, especially in today’s harsh economic climate. They argued that survival now requires teamwork and shared responsibility, rather than rigid roles.

One user summed up the supportive view by saying, “It’s not about the amount, it’s about the mindset.” On the other hand, another commenter responded, “In this economy, everybody should support the home.”

Beyond the debate, Pastor Enenche’s message has once again highlighted an important truth: conversations around marriage, money, and responsibility remain deeply personal, evolving, and shaped by both values and realities.
