A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to express her frustration after her ex-boyfriend allegedly moved his new girlfriend into the apartment he previously rented for her.
According to the lady, her ex had paid for the apartment’s rent for two years. As the rent period approached its end, she had already planned to take responsibility for the third year herself without asking him for financial support.
Trouble reportedly began when she stepped out one day and returned to find that her ex, who still had a spare key, had entered the apartment and rearranged her belongings. She claimed that he moved all her items from the sitting room into the bedroom.
When she confronted him, he allegedly told her that his new girlfriend would now be using the sitting room. He further warned that if she was uncomfortable with the arrangement, she should vacate the apartment.
The lady lamented that relocating on such short notice in Lagos is extremely difficult due to the high cost and scarcity of housing, leaving her confused, distressed, and frustrated by the situation.
Sharing her experience, she said the incident has put her in a tight corner, as she never refused to pay the rent nor expected to be displaced so suddenly.
Her story has since sparked heated reactions online, with many Nigerians debating boundaries, entitlement, and housing rights in relationships.
