D’banj finally speaks out about the N-power fraud allegations

Oladapo Oyebanji, better known as D’banj, a Nigerian singer, has urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a thorough investigation while urging the general public to resist the urge to buy into media sensationalism.

He bemoaned the media’s coverage of him being detained by the ICPC on unsubstantiated allegations of fraud.

He stated that it has become critical to issue a statement for clarity and to correct public records.

This was stated in a statement issued on Wednesday by D’banj’s legal adviser, Maryam El-Yakub Musa.

Recall that the ICPC confirmed D’Banj’s arrest and detention on Wednesday as part of an investigation into fraud related to the N-Power Program.

D’banj, on the other hand, stated that he has no contractual or incidental relationship with any group or person within or outside the Government.

“It is instructive to state first and foremost that the report concerning Mr Daniel Oladapo Oyebanjo’s arrest and detention is misconceived, malicious, and prejudicial to the justice system anywhere in the world, and we would advise the general public to be well guided,” the statement said.

“For the record, D’banj has no such contractual or incidental relationship with any group or individuals within or outside the Government in relation to the disbursement, operations, access, or control of any government fund through an agency or its subsidiaries.”

“D’banj has encouraged the Commission to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that characters attempting to drag him into such ridiculous activities are brought to justice.”
