A Nigerian man who once vowed to burn his international passport if Bola Ahmed Tinubu didn’t win the 2023 presidential election has cried out over the worsening economic situation, saying he can no longer afford fuel or feed himself despite campaigning for Tinubu with passion and dedication.
The man’s story was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ChuksEricE, along with a video showing him expressing deep frustration over his current hardship.
Before the 2023 general election, the man said he pledged unwavering support for Tinubu, vowing to burn his passport if Tinubu lost and even calling for Nigeria to be split into three parts.
In his words: “I voted for Tinubu. I’m the one who said if Tinubu no enter, I’ll burn my international passport. Since he became president, things have become hard for me.”
He explained that he used his personal resources including money, time, and effort to campaign and even wrote Tinubu’s name on his motorcycle to show loyalty.
“I’ve not seen money to buy fuel. Even to eat is a problem. I now beg people who voted for Peter Obi just to get fuel,” he added.
His remarks have since sparked reactions online, with many social media users flooding the comment section to express a mix of empathy, mockery, and political commentary.
