A UK-based Nigerian man is set to face a disciplinary committee at his workplace after telling a white female colleague that she was “adding weight.”
A user on X (formerly Twitter) going by the handle @Adamthallith posted about this development, revealing that the person involved is a close friend of his.
The Nigerian man allegedly told his female coworker that she was putting on weight and that joining a gym would “really make sense” for her shape, according to the post.
.However, the woman told management that the comments about her body had left her feeling “traumatized” and that she found the remark distressing.
“One of our guys here in the UK will face a disciplinary committee on Tuesday at his workplace because he told his white female colleague that she’s adding weight and if she enters a gym, her shape will really make sense. The lady said she’s traumatized by his remarks about her body,” the post reads.
The poster expressed concern over the potential consequences, adding that the company in question is responsible for sponsoring his friend’s UK visa.
“All I’m praying for right now is for him to be warned or something, because that’s the company that sponsored his visa to the UK. If they terminate his appointment, it means he’ll have to leave the country,” he added.
He also mentioned that this isn’t the first time his friend has made inappropriate comments at work.
According to him, the same man once asked two lesbian colleagues how they had their daughter, a situation that nearly cost him his job but was overlooked due to the intervention of a Nigerian acting director at the time.
“This same guy was asking two of his colleagues, who are lesbians, how they had their daughter. He was warned then and protected by the acting director, who was also a Nigerian. I’m just too sad and worried about him ffs,” he said.
The post has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many taking to the comment section to share their opinions on workplace boundaries and cultural sensitivity.

@M33natAjibola: “😹😹😹😹 I’m not sorry for him. If he make am good, if he doesn’t at least he has learnt his lesson.”
