A house agent from Ado-Ekiti’s Odo Ado neighborhood named Olamilekan Olaitan has been in hot water after allegedly transferring a client’s ₦225,000 intended for rent to the online gambling site Bet9ja.
According to reports, Olaitan collected the money under the pretense of securing accommodation but failed to deliver any property.
During his questioning by the Estate, Rent & Commission Agents Association of Nigeria (ERCAAN) task force, he admitted to spending the whole amount on Bet9ja Video games.
The suspect was quickly caught by the ERCAAN task force, who also publicly disciplined him.
The association has warned others engaged in similar dishonest activities to stop or face similar repercussions for his actions, which have been widely denounced.
The case has now been turned over to the police for additional legal investigation and prosecution.
