Ben Duamlong, 70, a former Nigerian under-20 team coach, achieves outstanding academic success by receiving a first-class honours degree from the University of Jos (UNIJOS).
Despite his advanced age, he pursued his passion for education after retiring as a football coach, according to the Daily Trust.
Duamlong graduated from the university in 2023 as one of 20,532 students, and he stood out among his peers as one of 112 students who received first-class honors.
He demonstrated his dedication and commitment to his academic pursuits while studying painting at the university.
Ben Duamlong revealed his motivation for returning to school was a deep love of art, specifically painting. He added that he had always had a talent for drawing but had never had the opportunity to explore painting.
He, on the other hand, was drawn to the art form and wanted to improve his skills in it. After retiring from football in 2014, made the decision to return to school. He went on to say that furthering his education seemed like the ideal way to channel his energy and to pursue his newfound passion for painting.
“What prompted me to go back to the university at this age is because of my passion for art. All my life, I have always drawn but never painted. I like painting. I can draw but I can’t paint. So, after retiring in 2014, as a footballer, I stayed home doing nothing. That is why I decided to go back to school,” he revealed to a correspondent of Daily Trust.
