A Nigerian couple’s traditional wedding ceremony took an unexpected turn when a heavy rain disrupted the event, leading to an emotional and bittersweet day.
The incident has sparked reactions on social media after being caught in a now-viral TikTok video uploaded by user @thevillagefamily2024.
According to the TikTok user, the rain began just as the ceremony was about to start, forcing guests to leave the venue.
“Rain started falling when the traditional marriage was about to start 😢😢 all the guest left, it was an emotional day for the bride,” she captioned the video.
The video showed a waterlogged wedding venue with some of the decorations scattered or drenched.
The user also mentioned that the bride was devastated because her special day did not go as planned because the rain continued during the ceremony.
While many sympathised with the couple, others viewed the rain as a sign of blessing, with many Nigerians traditionally believing that rain on a wedding day symbolises abundance and good fortune.
