An employer has expressed his sorrow on social media after claiming that his sales representative stole more than ₦10 million from his company and falsified the company’s statement of accounts.
An employer expressed shock at the disparity between reported and actual earnings in a series of videos that were shared on TikTok.
He claims that on average, the company makes between ₦1 million and ₦1.5 million every month.
Suspicion was raised, though, when the sales representative allegedly stated that only ₦77,000 had been made in a recent month.
In one video, the employer is heard saying:
“We have to go to the station. Out of the first Opay account they’ve checked, most transactions are between you and Ikenna. This business generates between ₦1m – ₦1.5m every month.”
The video’s caption provided further context, warning employers to be wary of staff who appear “too perfect.” It alleged that the staff in question collaborated with tablet technicians and even Opay employees to divert funds and alter bank statements.
The caption reads in part:
“Colluding with technicians to divert over ₦10.4 million meant for the company account is no small heist… now the suspect and her aunties, who came to the police station, are allegedly in collusion with Opay staff to tamper with her bank records…”
The business owner expressed hope that justice would be served, citing support from a trustworthy DPO, and promised to share updates on the case.
