There was chaos in the Ajah area of Lagos State when some Nigerian police officers allegedly shot and killed Gafaru Buraimoh, a resident of Happy Land Estate.
Although the circumstances surrounding Buraimoh’s death remain unknown, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated in a statement released on Wednesday that Gafaru died as a result of a shooting incident involving men from the Ajah Police Division.
The officer responsible for the shooting, an Inspector of Police, was immediately disarmed and detained, and a full-scale investigation into what led to the avoidable shooting has begun.
“At approximately 2330hrs on Tuesday, December 06, 2022, a shooting incident involving men of Ajah Division resulted in the unfortunate death of Gafaru Buraimoh of Happy Land Estate, Ajah,” according to the statement.
“The officer responsible for the shooting, an Inspector of Police, was immediately disarmed and detained, and a full-scale investigation has begun.”
“The Lagos State Police Command has since notified and established contact with the family through the Area Commander, Elemoro, and Divisional Police Officer, Ajah.”
“While commiserating with the family of the deceased over the avoidable and most unfortunate incident, the Command assures that the already begun investigation into the immediate and remote circumstances leading to the shooting will be completed quickly and conclusively, while also ensuring that justice is
