Lady accuses police of assault, seek help

A Nigerian woman who claims to have been beaten by four police officers in Rivers State has voiced her alarm and asked for assistance.

She claims that the police officers who pulled her over on the highway brutally treated her despite not accusing her of any crimes.

She described the tragic event and urged the Rivers State Police Command to step in in a long video which was posted on the social media site X (formerly Twitter).

In the video, she described how the interaction started when she was pulled over by police in a white Hilux.

When one of the officers shone a torchlight straight into her eyes, she asked him to turn it down because it was uncomfortable.

But the officer allegedly became enraged at her request, beating her and injuring her ear.

In her words: “Rivers State Police, come and see what the policemen did to me. It happened tonight; there were four of them in a white Hilux. They slapped me and asked me to come down from the car. When I asked the officer to lower the torchlight flashing in my eyes, they started beating me.”

She continued: “Look at my ear; look at what they did to me. My earrings are missing. I was begging and shouting for help. It was night, so I couldn’t record them. I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t smoke or drink, and I didn’t provoke them. I was just passing when they stopped me.”

They claimed they wanted to search me but started slapping me instead. One of them hit my ear, and the pain is unbearable. I couldn’t even record them because they kept attacking me. I did nothing to deserve this treatment”

Concerned citizens flocked to the comment section as the video went viral online to voice their indignation and call for justice for her ordeal.

@UhunomaEtinosa: “We should really know what happened in the scene. Some questioning need to take place.”

@AmusanElijahAb1: “I think that bright boy or dull boy need to see this.

I pray their own life should not end just like End SARs because this is too much.”
