A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after expressing frustration over the harsh reality of unemployment, despite complying with strict academic rules during her time in school.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the young graduate recounted how her institution enforced a rigid “no lab coat, no entry” policy, emphasizing discipline and seriousness in practical sessions. However, she lamented that all the effort and compliance did not translate into job opportunities after graduation.
In her words:
“All the ‘no lab coat, no entry’ in school, this is the end of it. We still didn’t end up securing any job. No employment anywhere.”
She went on to reveal that the same lab coat she once needed for academic access is now being used in an entirely different setting — her roadside online betting hustle.
“If you don’t have a lab coat, don’t enter my lab. This is me using the lab coat for my Baba Ijebu business,” she said, highlighting the irony of her situation.
Her story quickly gained traction online, sparking a mix of humor, empathy, and criticism.
Some reactions included:
“Nigeria will humble you, I swear. From lab to Baba Ijebu.”
“All those lecturers that stressed us nko? See where we dey now.”
“Nigeria kills dreams and plans 💔”
“She get luck say she see Baba Ijebu work sef 😂”
“That Ijebu no be work ni?”
Beyond the jokes, her experience reflects a deeper issue — the growing disconnect between education and employment opportunities in Nigeria. Many young graduates continue to face limited job prospects, forcing them to adapt, improvise, and turn to alternative means of survival.
