Residents of Kaduna State have warned of impending hunger as a result of fuel scarcity and the introduction of new notes, which have disrupted the state’s food supply chain.
Several business owners who sell food and ingredients have reduced their supplies due to a lack of cash and fuel.
Mrs. Rhoda Usman, who sells foods like beans, yam, and rice, stated that “most of my suppliers have stopped supplying foodstuff because they don’t accept transfers and I don’t have cash for business transactions.”
According to her, “it’s becoming difficult for me, just as I’ve closed my shops because my customer has refused to send me food.”
Similarly, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf, who sells yam in Kaduna market, said he couldn’t go to the village where he buys yam in bulk because locals refused to accept old currency.
Mrs Ruth Hassan, who sells palm oil, stated that she has since stopped selling oil due to a lack of new notes, and that she has even locked her shop.
Following the development, we observed that food prices have continued to rise on a daily basis.
