A 29-year-old Nigerian woman has taken to social media to express her heartbreak after allegedly discovering that her 40-year-old husband is involved in an affair with her 19-year-old cousin.
The story was shared on Facebook by user Fegor Chime on behalf of the woman, who requested anonymity.
According to the distressed wife, she and her husband live in Asaba, Delta State, with their two children. She recently completed her National Youth Service and is currently unemployed, making her financially dependent on her husband.
She revealed that her cousin, who is now 19 years old, has been living with them for the past six years. However, she recently discovered that her husband and the young woman have allegedly been in a secret relationship.
The wife claimed that the pair sometimes visit hotels together and that her husband sneaks into the cousin’s room at night. She further alleged that whenever her cousin’s period is delayed, her husband provides her with pills.
Devastated by the discovery, she said she involved both families in an attempt to resolve the issue. However, she was reportedly advised to forgive her husband and move on.
Despite her desire to send her cousin back to the village, her husband allegedly refused, claiming that the cousin’s parents would not permit it. The cousin has also reportedly refused to leave and demanded that the husband sponsor her education.
In a shocking twist, the wife stated that the cousin has accused her husband of rape.
Expressing her emotional turmoil online, the woman wrote:
“I’m 29, my husband is 40, and we live in Asaba with our two kids. I just finished my youth service and haven’t started working yet, so I fully depend on my husband financially. I just found out that my husband is sleeping with my 19-year-old cousin, who has been living with us for six years. They sometimes go to hotels, and at night, he sneaks into her room. He even gives her gifts whenever her period is late. I have been crying and heartbroken for days. I involved both families, but they said I should forgive. I want to send her back to the village, but my husband refuses, saying her parents will not let him go. I honestly want to leave this marriage, but I don’t have anything right now and I don’t know how I will take care of my kids. My cousin also said she won’t go and demanded that my husband pay for her schooling. She even claims that he raped her. Please advise me on what to do before I do something crazy.”
The situation has since sparked conversations online about infidelity, family boundaries, financial dependence in marriage, and the serious implications of the rape allegation.
As reactions continue to pour in, many have urged the woman to prioritize her safety, seek legal advice, and explore avenues for financial independence before making any major decisions.
