Mr. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas was declared the winner of the Delta South Senatorial District in the Feb. 25 National Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Prof. Peretimina Anthony, the election’s Returning Officer (RO), declared Thomas the winner on Tuesday.
The outcome was announced in Oleh, the headquarters of the State’s Isoko South Local Government Area.
According to Anthony, Thomas, a former Chairman of the Delta Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) and All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, received 49, 955 votes.
He also stated that the Senator-elect defeated Mr Michael Diden, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who received 47,656 votes.
According to him, retired Commodore Omatseye Nesiama of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) received 4,721 votes.
