AEDC bemoans Abuja’s ongoing equipment vandalism

The Abuja Electrical Distribution Company (AEDC) is appalled by the ongoing vandalism to its property in Abuja.

AEDC also bemoaned the theft of a $5 million underground power wire in the region, which prevented it from providing its services.

Donald Etim, the Chief Marketing Officer of AEDC, explained in a statement that recently, 185 meters of XLPE underground cable worth more than N5 million were carted away at the Central Business Area in Abuja FCT. This incident was just one of many that have been similarly impacted throughout their franchise.

He bemoaned the multiplying effect that the vandalism of its equipment produces, which amounts to billions of naira.

He stated, “AEDC will not relent on its efforts to ensure it provides adequate, uninterrupted power supply, hence the company’s continued investments in network upgrades, refurbishment of faulty transformers, procurement of new transformers as well as the construction of new feeders and lines to relieve existing ones.”
